Summer Music Camp 2009
Recitals:
Several student recitals, scheduled by various teachers in the School of Music, are held throughout the year.
Other Events:
Students and faulty are often involved in providing music for worship services and other programs throughout the year. A small orchestra has provided music for the Christmas Eve worship services, the "Living Nativity" outreach event, and 40th anniversary service at Cooper High School.

Registration Information:
Students are encouraged to register 1 month in advance of each semester and summer camp. However new students can register after the semester has started. A registration form is provided below and can be e-mailed to office@hohlc.org or mailed to House of Hope School of Music, 4800 Boone Ave. N., New Hope, MN 55428.
1. Fees
The student fee for each semester is $414 ($23.00 per lesson). Payment is as follows: $138 per month due the first of September, October, and November and the first of February, March and April.
2. Scholarships
It is our policy to provide scholarships to students based on certain criteria. For more information contact the House of Hope School of Music.
3. Missed Lessons
Please call your teacher directly (not the church office) if you must miss a lesson. When possible, please communicate this information at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson. Prior notification, however, does not exempt the student from payment. Students are charged for all lessons for which they have registered, including those missed through student absence. All student absences (i.e. family vacation, schedule conflicts, illness, etc. . .) will be made up at the teacher's discretion, as time permits. Teachers will offer make-up lessons for up to two student absences.
Lessons canceled by the instructor will be made up at a mutually acceptable time.
There are two weeks built into the schedule at the end of each semester for make-up lessons; it may be that some students will be able to take more than 18 lessons which will be available at the normal lesson fee.

Melanie Hanson
Violin, Viola, and Piano
Melanie Hanson earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in violin performance and music education with Sally O'Reilly at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Hanson earned her Master of Music in violin performance in Youngstown, Ohio where she was a member of the Youngstown Symphony and the Warren Philharmonic. Currently, she is Director of Music and Worship at Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Chanhassen. The House of Hope School of Music was founded in November of 2002 by Dr. Hanson and her husband, Michael Hanson. They serve as co-directors of the School of Music.

Michael Hanson
Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, and Piano
Michael Hanson is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Saxophone Performance at the University of Minnesota, where he studies with Dr. Eugene Rousseau. He holds degrees from Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music (M.M. Saxophone Performance) and Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota (B.M. Music Education). He has studied with several eminent saxophone artists including Steven Jordheim, Russell Peterson, Dr. James Umble, and Dr. Eugene Rousseau. His recording of Paul Hindemith's Konzertstuck will be released this fall on the Arizona University Recordings Americas Millennium Tribute to Adolphe Sax volume XI. Hanson has performed concerts in the United States, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Russia, and Switzerland. His performances have been broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio, WYSU (Youngstown, Ohio) and televised in Minnesota and North Dakota. He has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Dr. James Umble, a Visiting Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, as well as Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone at Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio. Currently,he is visiting instructor of saxaphone at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. He is also a free-lance performer and instructor in the Minneapolis, Minnesota, area.
Kim Lange
Piano
Kim Lange received the B.A and M.M. degrees with an emphasis in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Minnesota where she studied with Paul Freed. She has 26 years of teaching experience, including teaching at the Crystal Free Church School of Music, the Northwestern College Academy of Music and the Northwestern College Piano Institutes. Kim has studied the Suzuki approach with Maria Rantapaa and the Taubman Technique with Teresa Dybvig. She also has had extensive training in early childhood music, including the Yamaha, Musikgarten and Musical Trolley programs. Her teaching experience has included students of all ages, including both gifted students and students with disabilities. She is an active member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association, the St. Paul Piano Teachers Association and Minnesota Music Teachers Forum, and has attended numerous workshops, master classes and institutes. A lifelong learner, she continues her piano studies with Dr. Paul Wirth. Kim resides in Crystal, MN with her husband who is her greatest support, Dr. Richard Lange.
Melanie Watson
Kindermusik
Melanie Watson received her Bachelor of Music/Vocal Music Education from the University of Arizona. She also has her Masters in vocal performance and has taught general and choral music to K-12 graders, as well as private voice and piano lessons.
A licensed Kindermusik educator since 1996, she taught with Kindermusik of Cleveland, Ohio, from 1998-2003, and was hailed as one of the top Kindermusik studios internationally, from 1998-2003, prior to moving to the Twin Cities with her family.
Melanie brings her passion for the singing voice and the learning process, and her personal experience as mother to a son and daughter to the classroom.

Taste of Music
This program offers lessons at a reduced rate. Teachers are skilled at their instrument, but may not have formal music degrees. Currently lessons include violin, viola, piano, and guitar. Lessons are $10-15 per half hour, with 18-week semesters.
