Youth & Family Ministry

Our Youth and Family Ministry is committed to building relationships with students and parents, to bring people into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and help them grow in the Christian faith.

Junior High & High School

There are a wide variety of events in which junior high school youth can participate including Confirmation class, Sunday School, fun fellowship events, retreats, musical & tours, mission trips and camp, service opportunities and fundraising.  We support Camp Wapogasset in Amery, Wisconsin.  This year our camp dates in August:  Seeds weekend Aug 6-8 (Grades 2-3) $110, Youth Camp Aug 8-13 (Grades 4-9) $360, and TIM Team Aug 6-13 (Grades 9-12) $375.

Confirmation

Students in grades 6-9 are invited to join us every Wednesday night for Confirmation class. We learn about the faith we share and everyone is part of a small group with a dedicated leader. We have combined forces with First Lutheran Church of Crystal and have split time between both sites.  See the brochure on the home page - right side for more information.

Mission Trips

These trips are taken in summer with a high school and junior high trip offerings. Getting outside of our comfort zone, God uses each person to serve and love others. We believe serving others is an important part of our witness to God's love.  This summer our Senior High Youth (9-12th grade) are joining with Holy Nativity, Elim and St. James Lutheran Church youth for a trip to Toronto, Canada - July 31 - August 8.  A Junior High Trip is also in development.  Come along - bring a friend!

Youth Musical and Tour
This event is designed to build community among youth and to utilize their gifts in a creative and meaningful way.  We use our rehearsal time to learn music, choreorgraphy, employ leadership training, and encourage students in their faith journey.  This year our musical is "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" and involves youth from several area churche as well as friends of youth who are involved.  Rehearsals have begun and friends are always welcome.  Performances are scheduled for March including a tour to Fairbault and other sites yet to be determined.

MEA Getaway Fall Retreat
Students in grades 9 - 12 are invited to be a part of this amazing weekend.  We head to Castaway Club in Detroit Lakes, MN, for three nights of fun, fellowship, and great teaching.  It's a time to relax and enjoy being away from fast-paced high school.

Camp
Summer camp is open to students throught 9th grade.  Camp Wapo has become a favorite of many of the students.  Camp is held in August.  Please contact Pastor Mark for more information or visit the Camp Wapo website at http://www.campwapo.youthsite.org

Fundraising Opportunities
Opportunities include serving at the Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner , selling poinsettias, gift wrapping at Barnes & Noble, and others.  Monies earned are held in a youth account and can be used to off-set the cost of any church event with a fee involved.

Service Opportunities
These range from off-site service to serving our community at House of Hope.  Bulletins and newsletters are the best way to find out how you can help.
