The above Bible studies meet during the school year but not during the summer months.
Friday Morning Moms' Bible Study
This study explores how God has used ordinary people of the bible in extraordinary ways. Study begins at 9:30 a.m. in the library. Nursery Care is provided. In the summer this group meets at French Park at 10 a.m.
Women's Retreat
Each fall a retreat is held for women at a regional camp. Come and be a part of a weekend away where you are refreshed with meaningful fellowship, rest and renewal!
Adult Forum
Sundays at 9:40 a.m.
Everyone is invited for fellowship and a presentation of an educational topic, often with discussion, each week.
Empowering Couples
Offered twice a year, this six week course is offered for married couples with the goal of strengthening their marriage relationship. This class, led by Pastor Vinge, also offers another opportunity to build community as as we discuss one of the most significant and rich part of lives. Watch for the schedule for the next session. Talk to Pastor Mark if you have interest.
Loaves and Fishes
Once a month our members, together with St. James Lutheran Church members, cook and serve a meal to approximately 200 people at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in north Minneapolis. Cookies and bars for each dinner are donated by members of the two churches.
Jordan New Life Community Church
We partner with this mission congregation in north Minneapolis by supporting them financially, donating needed materials, helping with summer Bible School, assisting in serving monthly community meals, and other ways as needed. Periodically, we exchange pastors and choirs.
NEAR Fodshelf
House of Hope conducts an on-going collection of non-perishable food items for the foodshelf. Our Sunday School also supposrts this effort. Members assist in packing and distribution of holiday food baskets. We also support NEAR financially.
PRISM
House of Hope gives material and financial support to this organization which serves needy family in this area. Food, clothing, school supplies and job and personal counseling are among the services provided.
A Blood Drive is held twice a year in our parking lot with members donating blood.
Quilting
House of Hope members meet to make quilts which are given to local charities, disaster victims and to Lutheran World Relief.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
People gather occasionally on Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. to share in this ministry. They knit and crochet prayer shawls to be given to someone who is suffering or in crisis as a loving reminder of God's comfort and presence.
Hope Fest Community Carnival
Our annual summer picnic and carnival happens right in our backyard! All are invited for foodk fun and fellowship! Highlights each year are the carnival games, pony rides, petting zook and excellent entertainment!
"Living Nativity"?Music Event in December
Each year the Christmas story is reflected as members of our congregation don costumes and participate in a live nativity event for our community to enjoy. An open house inside the church with refreshments, Christmas music provided by choirs and the School of Music, and a holdiay concert provided by local Christian artists.
Small Job Maintenance Crew
The "SJMC" is a group of men who meet each Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to noon for fellowship, treats and an agenda of things that need "fixing" around the church and grounds.
Golf
Golfers are invited to participate each Wednesday evening in our golf league. Play begins in May and concludes in August. Contact the church office if interested.
Other Servive and Mission Opportunities
We have many members who give generously of their time and resources. We have participate with projects locally, such as Habitat for Humanity, and outside the country with our 2005 Belize, Central America Mission Trip. Three relief work trips to New Orleans have been made since November 2006.
Other Fellowship and Discipleship Events
There are numerous small groups such as Serendipity and Life groups meeting monthly in homes for support and fellowship. New groups are being formed. If you are interested in being a part of a group, please contact Pastor Vinge.
